My GAWAD bestfriend

April 29, 2010 is Mari Sherlin Salisi-Chua's birthday.

(that's her wearing a white shirt at ako naka-yellow with our GAWAD batchmates during our Araw ng Kalikasan in Paete, Laguna)

I called her up yesterday before I went to sleep. It was just a 10-minute talk but it was fun. I missed her. The last time we saw each other was during her wedding 2 years ago. (Grabe, tagal na pala sis!)

Anyway, she is still the same old Mari a.k.a Mariah that I've known-- sarap pa rin nya kasuap at ang kulit-kulit, ang mga hirit, excitement and all, politics talk, family and my lovelife... Grabe dami pala naming napagusapan sa loob ng sampung minuto... And oh, I'm missing the old days more and more!!!

And she's older than me na! Wahahaha! So ate ko na uli sya ngayon! Pag ako naman nag-bday, di ko na sya ate, same age na uli kami.

I love you sis... And I really miss you!

Kahit medyo matagal pa, I'm looking forward on the day you will be singing for me and John. ;-)

Happy Birthday and may you have more to come! God bless you.

A reminder from HIM

Just want to share my devo early last night before going to work...

"1Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going."

5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

8Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."

9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."

-John 14:1-14

Also, in Experiencing God Day by Day, Blackaby said:

"If you are walking daily with the Lord, you will not have to find God’s will—you will already be in it. If you are walking with Him in obedience day by day, you will always be in the will of God. The Holy Spirit’s role is to guide you step by step to do God’s will. Walking closely with God each day guarantees that you will be exactly where He wants you to be. You would have to reject all of the Holy Spirit’s activity in your life in order to get out of the will of God..."

This is resounding in my head: You would have to reject all of the Holy Spirit’s activity in your life in order to get out of the will of God. I can relate eh... And so I say again, I really thank Him for His grace!

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. -2 Corinthians 12:9

Reminds me of this scene again; my personal version of Luke 5:8-10, Psalm 8:4 and Genesis 1:26:

Me: Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful one!
God: Don't be afraid...
Me: who am I that you are mindful of me?... That you care for me?
God: I formed you with my own hands, I made you in my likeness, created you according to my image... and that is why you are special to me.

Thank You, for the reminder Lord. ;-)

Wow talaga!

Allow me to share a divine appointment...

Last night, a colleague sent me a PM (we have an internal chat at work called same time) and she was asking me to teach her how to pray to cast evil spirits. Nagulat ako kasi out of the blue at medyo na-bother din na tipong na-lost ako kung paano ang tamang approach and response ko sa kanya, so I told her I'll get back on her about her concern.

I went out of production floor, took my Bible from my bag na nasa locker (good thing nadala ko kasi galing ako sa GCF prior to going to work) and looked for a passage na ni-remind sa akin ni Lord. Hindi ko kasi matandaan kung anong yung eksaktong passage na yun pero bsta pag binubuklat ko ang Bible ko alam ko kung saan nakapwesto (hehe. photographic memory na ito!)

Here's what the Lord reminded me of:
"Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out." Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. (One day) the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding." -Acts 19:13-16

I didn't shared it to her agad but instead prayed for her and asked the Lord for wisdom how to respond to her need that very moment. Then the Lord placed a burden in my heart to share to her the Gospel. Yung verse sa Acts ang pinaka starting pont ko (para din kasi wala naman akong choice kasi Gospel talaga ang sagot sa tanong nya. Hehe).

Good thing Carmie and I are scheduled to meet for our discipleship, so I invited our friend/colleague to join us, and thank God she said yes. Ayoko rin (at mali rin naman) kasing mag-share ng Gospel during working hours.

And so the time came, right after shift we went to our pantry floor (parang food court sya), sa 7th floor. And I started with Acts 19:13-16 and then went on to explain the whole thing.

Carmie was there to back me up, she interceded and also shared her personal testimony to our colleague/friend.

Nakakatuwa na naitindihan nya yung prinisent namin sa kanya and that most of her questions was answered by the Word, as in by God Himself. And though, she did not pray to receive Christ (and I mean, not yet), we can see that the Lord is up to something. Meron pa Syang work nagagawin sa heart ng kaibigan namin.

It was really a blessing! Nakaka-re-energize after my emo mode the other day! Nakaka-humble na almost the whole shift atang hindi right ang heart ko sa Panginoon, yet He still used me to minister and be ministered to...

God was so there, when I think about it I can't really believe how smooth the sharing time was. And her remarks before we parted ways: "para akong na-rejuvenate!" and she was very thankful. All glory to Him!

Nakakatuwa rin kasi she has been exposed na to a Christian school and meron syang mga friends na Christian din. So mukha talagang the Lord is and has been preparing her heart....

At, totoo talagang kahit anong book sa Bible ay magagamit sa pag-share ng Gospel... As in Both Old and New Testament.

As far as i can remember eto ang mga shinare ko sa friend namin:

(bukod sa Acts 19:13-16 na starting point ko)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
-John 3:16-16

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." -John 10:10

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," -Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 6:23
(here, I explained to her that death pertains to eternal separation, eternal condemnation, the life after the physical death apart from the presence of God or in hell. While eternal life pertains to the life after the physical death with the Lord in heaven.)

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." -John 14:6
(I told her that Jesus is the only way to the Father. He is not a way, but He is the way.)

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep." -1 Corinthians 15:3-6
(need I say more? Ü)

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" -John 1:12

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." -Revelation 3:20
(I mentioned this to give her the idea and illustrate that the Lord is knocking at her heart.)

"The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" -Jeremiah 17:9
(she mentioned something about a gift, her ability to discern and "feel" if there is something wrong or something weird... told her this to address the issue on basing everything in our own feelings)

Then she asked, how do you know if it's the Lord's will? If it is His answer to your prayer? And I shared these passages to her:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." -Jeremiah 29:11-13

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." -John 15:7

"Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." -Psalm 37:4
(I told her this is one of my favorite life verse... And explained to her that the focus should not be in the "he will give you the desires of your heart" but rather in the "Delight yourself in the LORD". Because if we do, what we will ask of Him is according to His will, and if it is according to His will, it is given. Simple lang di ba? Ü)

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." -1 John 5:14-15

"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." -James 4:3
(I also told her that the Lord will not answer a prayer/request that would contradict to His character: Him being a Holy God; who hates sin, Him being gracious, loving, kind, compassionate, just, faithful, and so on...)
And shinare ko rin sa kanya ito:

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" -Matthew 7:21-23
(to prove na, according sa Bible, hindi po lahat ng religion/beliefs ay genuine at para kay Lord talaga. Ü and also share to her na yung word na "knew" sa Greek word, it means intimate ang pagkakakilala, like a family member or a very-very close friend. Ü)

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." -1 John 1:9

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8

"We love because he first loved us." -1 John 4:19

...Ayun so far ang naalala kong mga passages na binanggit ko sa kanya. When I asked her how is her relationship with the Lord, she said okay naman yun nga lang hindi pa sya umaabot sa point na she can totally surrender her life to Him. So I said, maybe it's time to re-commit your life to Him. She did not agree nor did she refuse. But it was made clear to me, by the propmting of the Holy Spirit that that was enough, that we (Carmie and I) have done our part and let Him do the rest.

Carmie and I believes that He really is up to something in the life of our friend. As i mentioned earlier, we came there to minister to our friend/colleague, and yes, we did, but we too have been ministered and blessed by that experience. A joyful and glorious one! Sobrang fulfilling talaga mag-obey sa Kanya! As in... Nakakatuwa, as in WOW TALAGA!

We invited her, if she want, she can join again on our next devo-prayer time that we do every other week and I also invited her to attend our Sunday service.... So there, that's our divine appointment. Do join us, in praying for the salvation of our friend.

To God be all the glory!

My status message for today:

For the things that matter... God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever!

I hate the day today.
If not for His grace, I would have just locked myself in my silent sanctuary.

Thank You, for praying for me always... Thank You, for Your grace, thank You, for Your love...

by: GRACE

Sinong Grace? LOL

Nah, hindi po tao ang tinutukoy ko... I'm referring to God's grace! As He has been reminding me of His grace over and over again nitong mga nakaraang araw.. uhm, weeks ata eh! Hehe. And every time I stop and think about it, it leads me to fall on my knees and cry at His feet...

Nakaka-humble at nakaka-overwhelm when I think about how He has freely given it to me... to a sinner like me!

"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" -Ephesians 2:1-10

Last Saturday, I taught/lead our Bible study on James 4:4-6. We had a fruitful study and discussion. On the latter part, application part that is... I asked the group: What does God's grace mean to you? Their testimonies gave me goose bumps, and lead me to utter my praise to Him! As in, alive na alive ang Panginoon sa buhay namin... And when it was my turn to share my personal thoughts/testimony, ayun at hindi ko talaga napigilan na umiyak... and if you belong to HIM, I know you'd know what i mean. Hehe. Di ko ma-construct ng maayos to be able to share it here. Eto na lang ang siguro:

HIS grace means, the favour of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting His holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps them, strengthens them, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge and affection and kindles them to exercise of the Christian virtues.

Amen and amen. Only by His grace!

Thank You Lord for Your GRACE...

interesting conversation

I had an interesting conversation yesterday morning with a relative. I believe it was one of God's answer to my prayer (not about my previous post though) about a personal and sensitive issue...

Thank You Lord, truly You are amazing God! You are the Lord who answers prayer... Thank You for another divine appointment!

To you dearest,

I now know better.
I now have a clearer idea why are you like who you are right now.
I now can say that I know where you are coming from.

I wish we could really talk about things.
I wish you'd be honest to yourself and to all of us.
I wish you'd give time to spend time to listen, and I mean listen.

...It will come, I know, in His time!
I love you and I miss you.
;-)

I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

-Psalm 27:13-14

...pray with me please!

I've been feeling this way since the start of March. And I've been asking the Lord to help me na makabawi pa ako... Things for me are still unclear.

So, do help me in praying, nagsasawa na (ata) ako sa ginagawa ko sa work...(?)

Is it time to leave Lord? Is it time to transfer? Or is this just another opportunity for me to be STILL and KNOW that YOU are God...? Help me be more sensitive in Your leading...

In His name, I pray, amen...

.Sigh.

Sager no more!

One of my best friend at work got married last April 7, 2010. So she is Sager no more.

Welcome, Mrs. Cecilia Sager-Villaruel.

I am just sooooo happy for you (and I envy you at the same time. ehehe. Gusto ko na ring magpakasal eh! LOL) and again, I want to say I'm sorry for missing your big day, I know you understood naman my reason and my needs...

I can't wait to see you and hear your stories about how it feels and stuff like that.

I am with you praying that your marriage will work out just fine. I pray that you will not forget Him, the Lord who is in control of your life. I pray you will continue to grow as a person, and now as a wife. Naks!

I love you Sager, you are and will always be our (namin ni Mike) baby! Mwuah-mwuah-mwuah! Best wishes and God bless you and Henry (a.k.a. Puto) as a couple.

I love weekends!

I had a glorious, fruitful and empowering weekend...

And I really praise and thank You for that, my Lord!

Thank You so much!

Saturday:
- After my shift, I went to visit my older brothers (kuya and diko and their families. uhm, they live in one house) to check on our newest member of the family--- Mayari Sabio:

She was born April 3, 2010. She is so cute and looks like her older brother Kajel Sikat, girl version nga lang. Hehe. I had fun having breakfast with them and spending short chit-chat with Diko, Aque and Kuya Eric. Mama was there pala so sinama ko na rin sya pauwi sa Mandaluyong afterwards. I felt kind of disappointed lang cause Iya and Kajel wasn't there. Namiss ko mga pamangkin ko eh. But I get to see Diwa and Dayaw na parehong tulog na tulog pa when I arrived. I love them all! Hehe. Thank You for that chance Lord!

- That night, 6pm, my small group was scheduled to meet for mentoring session with Pastor Jojo Lacanilao and his wife Tita Vivian. It serves as our series break in studying the book of James. We had a wonderful mentoring session that night. Our topic was about the different types of personalities (sanguine, choleric, melancholy and phlegmatic) it was affirming, encouraging and challenging for all of us. Affirming in a sense that, ayun ganun nga pala tlga kami wired! Encouraging in a sense that indeed it is not wrong to be different as we are all created uniquely. Challenging in a way that, since we have become aware of the differences in each persons paano kami mag-a-appear na humble at hindi magmayabanag sa labas ng church that we know it, challenge kung paano namin isasabuhay yung "pag-intindi" sa mga nakakasalamuha namin everyday. But all in all, sobrang nakaka-bless yung time namin! So, thank You Lord... Meron pa kaming merienda courtesy of our mentors and Kiko (<--sa kanyang pagbabalik. Hehe).

Sunday:
- Started the day right and spent quality time with Him. I am back in my Bible reading! I'm going through Corinthians now. So blessed how He is speaking and revealing Himself to me through His word.

- Thank You, Lord for a wonderful sermon that morning; oh how You spoke and dealt with my heart through the message of Pastor Larry. Thank You for Pastor Raul for listening to my cry and praying for me after service.

- Thank You for our sumptuous CONNECT lunch fellowship! For ate Lea's ginisang ampalaya with egg and fish steak (na medyo napa-alat. hehe), for all the testimonies of Connect people na sobrang nakaka-encourage, and energy booster talaga! For bringing Marc and Kiko back.

- Thank You for the divine appointment with Dr.Elroi and indeed that was a glorious time! Thank you for orchestrating everything, You are truly in full control! Nakakabless ang aming chit-chat and coffee bean moment.

- Thank You for a short and sweet bonding time by ourselves ni John and how You have been blessing our relationship for Your own glory. It is humbling and an honor to serve our King.

Love to thank You! Love to love You! Let me hug You, Lord...

..oh, and yeah, I MISS BLOGGING! ;-)

i Pray...

That someday I will be like her:

The Wife of Noble Character

10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.

19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.

21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

29 "Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
